Surface Mount FFC Test Fixture
PCB-Mounted FFC Test Fixtures

For applications requiring a smaller overall footprint, FlexibleTest offers surface mount FFC test fixtures designed to integrate directly onto the customer PCB.
Instead of using a separate fixture termination PCB, the contact element and clamping components are mounted directly to the customer’s board. This allows the FFC test interface to become part of the existing test hardware while reducing the overall fixture size and simplifying system integration.
This approach is ideal for compact test systems, production test equipment, and applications where available space or DUT access is limited.
Direct PCB Integration

The surface mount design eliminates the standard fixture termination PCB used in our traditional FFC test fixtures.
The customer PCB provides the electrical termination and mechanical mounting interface, while the FlexibleTest fixture provides the FFC contact and clamping system.
Z-Axis can provide the required:
- PCB footprint and pad layout
- Mounting-hole locations
- Contact interface geometry
- Recommended PCB clearances
- 2D drawings and 3D models for integration
This allows the fixture to be incorporated directly into a new or existing PCB design.
Compact and Accessible
PCB mounting provides significantly more flexibility when designing around space-constrained applications.
The fixture can be positioned close to the DUT, reducing the distance between the flex cable and test electronics. The reduced footprint also makes the design well suited for applications where a traditional standalone fixture may be too large or difficult to access.
Custom fixture geometries can also be developed for applications with limited FFC insertion depth or other mechanical restrictions.
Replaceable Contact Interface
Our PCB-mounted fixtures utilize the same Z-Axis elastomeric contact technology used throughout the FlexibleTest product line.
The contact element provides a reliable electrical interface between the exposed FFC pads and the corresponding PCB pads without requiring a mating connector on the flex cable.
The elastomeric contact element is replaceable, allowing the primary PCB and fixture hardware to remain in service when the contact interface eventually requires replacement.
Custom Configurations

Surface mount FFC test fixtures can be configured around the specific requirements of the application, including:
FFC pitch and conductor count
Fixtures can be designed for a range of FFC/FPC pitches and contact counts.
Pads-up or pads-down orientation
The contact interface can be configured around the orientation of the exposed FFC pads.
FFC geometry
Custom designs can accommodate specific cable widths, insertion depths, and non-standard flex geometries.
PCB integration
Mounting locations, PCB pads, clearances, and surrounding mechanical features can be incorporated into the fixture design.
